MANILA, Oct. 17 -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a woman behind the series of online bomb threats against schools in Pampanga.

In a statement on Friday, the NBI-Central Luzon Regional Office (NBI-CELRO) said Sheila Gonzales, 21, was apprehended in her residence at Barangay Pandan in Angeles City on Oct. 13 and charged with violations of Presidential Decree No. 1727 (Bomb Prank Law).

The local government earlier sought the assistance of NBI-CELRO following multiple bomb threats against several schools and universities in the province.

The threats were communicated through social media and the internet, which were later determined to be hoaxes, and no actual bombings occurred, according to the NBI.
