Manila, Jan. 12 -- If called or requested by maritime law enforcement agencies, the Philippine Navy (PN) is more than capable of helping these bodies monitor and if needed, intercept or apprehend vessels or ships found illegally operating in the country's waters.
This is aside from the PN's regular mission of conducting sustained naval patrols and maintaining steadfast presence across the country's maritime domain to support maritime security and maritime domain awareness, Navy spokesperson Captain Marissa Martinez told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Monday.
She made this comment when asked if the PN can be tapped to monitor or even intercept ships found suspiciously operating in the country's waters.
