MANILA, Nov. 19 -- More than 4.6 million, or 88.53 percent, of the 5.3 million population of the Ilocos Region have registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of Oct. 31, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported.
Of the total number, 2.7 million are in Pangasinan; 725,184 are in La Union; 657,418 in Ilocos Sur; and 538,017 in Ilocos Norte.
PSA 1 (Ilocos Region) registration officer Christopher Flores, in a phone interview on Wednesday, said they register even infants with the mothers' consent.
"Even at the hospital, we can register them. That's why there is a timely registration when it comes to our Civil Registry documents and at the same time, the national ID of the children," he said.
