MANILA, Feb. 21 -- The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Youth and Students Sectoral Council (YSSC) has expressed its opposition to bills seeking to extend the terms of barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials.

Senate Bill 2816 and House Bill 1187 seek to extend the three-year term of barangay and SK officials to six years and to postpone the 2025 barangay and SK elections until May 2029.

In a news release on Friday, the NAPC said YSSC Sectoral Representative Ninian Sumadia and Vice Chairperson for the Basic Sectors Ruperto Aleroza called on President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to veto both bills should these pass through Congress.
