Manila, June 20 -- The National Citizens' Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) on Friday expressed its opposition to the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled on Dec. 1, 2025.

In a statement, the election watchdog said it believes that the BSKE should be conducted as prescribed by law to give the electorate a chance to choose their leaders.

"The barangay, as the smallest government unit, leads local programs and serves as a space for resolving community issues. As the closest government to the people, voters must regularly and periodically choose their leaders," NAMFREL said.
