Manila, April 16 -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has so far monitored over 140,000 maritime passengers who have passed through all ports nationwide on Wednesday.

In a situation report, the PCG said a total of 77,782 outbound passengers and 68,890 inbound passengers have so far been recorded in all ports from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.

"Moreover, 4,748 deployed frontline personnel in 16 PCG Districts have inspected 647 vessels and 1,113 motor bancas," it said.

From Monday (April 13) until Sunday (April 20), the PCG has placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert to manage the expected influx of port passengers during the Holy Week.
