Manila, April 16 -- The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is expecting a continued surge in passenger traffic at ports across the country, particularly in Panay and Guimaras, among the busiest during the Holy Week season.

In an interview on Wednesday, PPA spokesperson Eunice Samonte said that based on their data, the daily average number of passengers in ports in Guimaras and Panay reached more than 13,000, but it can soar up to more than 20,000 during peak season.

Based on their projected passenger traffic, the average daily passenger could be as high as 19,279, or 173,509 weekly, making ports in these islands the third busiest in the country, next to Mindoro and Batangas.
