Manila, July 14 -- The municipal government of Opol, Misamis Oriental on Monday officially opened a PHP29.8-million farm-to-market road (FMR).
In an interview, Mayor Jay Bago said the new FMR in Barangay Nangcaon aims to significantly improve local farmers' access to markets and reduce transportation costs for their produce.
Spanning 1.2 kilometers, the vital infrastructure has been turned over to village officials, Bago said.
"The project is part of the Rural Agro-enterprise Partnership for Inclusive Development and Growth Project of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of the Interior and Local Government," he said, adding that the project received funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
