MANILA, April 8 -- Social media giant Meta said Tuesday the Philippines is home to some of the "most robust" fact-checkers in the world, as it highlighted its efforts to curb misinformation in the country.
During the House of Representatives Tri-Committee hearing on online disinformation, Meta's director of public policy for Southeast Asia, Dr. Rafael Frankel, said local third-party fact-checkers play a key role in the company's push to reduce the spread of false content on its platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
Frankel said local third-party fact-checkers include VERA Files, Rappler, and Agence France-Presse.
