Manila, Feb. 6 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday distanced himself from the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, emphasizing that the executive branch has no involvement in the matter.

"The executive cannot have a hand in the impeachment. Walang role ang executive sa impeachment (The executive does not have a role in the impeachment)," Marcos said during a press briefing at Malacanang.

Marcos also maintained that both the House of Representatives and the Senate had no choice but to address the impeachment complaints.
