Manila, June 16 -- The city government of Manila, together with the national government, on Monday launched a program allowing the public to purchase school items at very low prices.

Mayor Honey Lacuna, in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Education (DepEd), launched the "Diskwento Caravan: Balik Eskwela Edition," aimed at helping residents, city employees, teachers and school personnel to buy school supplies and other products at much cheaper prices.

"The city government of Manila extends its sincere gratitude to the DTI together with the DepEd for the successful implementation of the Diskwento Caravan: Balik Eskwela Edition here in our city," Lacuna said in a statement.
