Manila, Sept. 3 -- The Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) is working on an ordinance for the mandatory coordination by national government agencies, offices, and government corporations with the Iloilo City government for the planning and implementation of projects.

During the council's regular session on Wednesday, Councilor Rex Marcus Sarabia expressed hope that the ordinance, once passed, would reduce "ghost projects."

"This is intended to also curb corruption and properly implement projects in Iloilo City," he said.

Sarabia said he knew the ordinance was going to be controversial and expected it to be challenged before the courts because there are adverse parties that might be affected.
