Manila, Sept. 4 -- A man who allegedly stabbed a police officer in Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental, is facing a complaint for direct assault against an agent of a person in authority, an official said Thursday.
Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), said the police officer, who is assigned at the Santa Catalina police station, was seriously injured after the suspect stabbed him Wednesday evening.
"Prior to the stabbing of the policeman, the suspect was already intoxicated and wanted to buy some liquor, but the woman tending the store told him to go home. He then grabbed the woman and stabbed her around seven times," Polinar said.
