Manila, Oct. 22 -- The Maharlika Investment Corporation (MIC) on Wednesday hit back at what it called "false and misleading" reports linking the country's sovereign wealth fund to a convicted financier involved in the multibillion-dollar 1MDB scandal in Malaysia.

In a statement, MIC categorically denied claims published by several online outlets, citing SarawakReport.org, which alleged that British businessman Patrick Mahony was serving as an "advisor" to the corporation.
