LAOAG CITY, Nov. 27 -- A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit Burgos, Ilocos Norte shortly before noon Thursday, state seismologists said.
Located at seven kilometers northwest of Burgos with a depth of 22 kilometers, the earthquake occurred at 11:10 a.m. and was tectonic in origin, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The earthquake prompted capitol workers to move out of the building for safety. Work resumed minutes later after the building was cleared by the engineering department as per protocol.
