Manila, March 11 -- The Airports Council International (ACI) World has recognized the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) as Best Airport in Asia Pacific under 5 to 15 million passengers per annum category.

The ACI, in partnership with technology firm Amadeus, announced the winners on March 10.

"We had been working hard in ensuring we bring world-class airport experience and elevate the perception of airports in the Philippines," Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC) chief executive officer Athanasios Titonis said in a statement Tuesday.

"This win is key in our vision of becoming the main tourism and transfer gateway in the country," he added.
