Manila, Sept. 2 -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of a driver and summoned the owner of the truck involved in a crash in Mabitac, Laguna that killed one person and injured two others.

In a statement on Tuesday, LTO Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said the crash killed a 65-year-old fruit vendor after the truck lost its brakes while traveling along the Mabitac National Highway on Aug. 29.

Both the driver and the owner of the truck were summoned to explain why they should not be penalized over the incident, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s order to implement road safety measures.
