Manila, March 28 -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday began its investigation into a viral video showing a driver of a black Ford Ranger who fell asleep on the wheel and caused damage to property in Metro Manila.

In a statement, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said the video, posted in a Facebook page named Yamato Kenji, is being investigated to check whether the incident was caused by a medical condition or otherwise.

"While it was stated in the video that the driver fell asleep, we want to know what really happened," Mendoza said.

In the video, the pick-up truck was seen slowly travelling along the road while motorists were trying to wake up the driver.
