MANILA, Dec. 1 -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Monday that 30 of its 39 impounded units last week were luxury vehicles.

The unregistered vehicles were intercepted in various areas in Metro Manila. Verification with the Bureau of Customs is underway.

"We found that these vehicles are not registered or the drivers have no licenses," LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, said in a video posted on LTO's social media page.

The impounded luxury vehicles included certain models of Mustang, Porsche and BMW.

Lacanilao said the LTO implements fair operations and impounds vehicles regardless of type.
