MANILA, April 16 -- The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

The LPA's trough, however, is forecast to affect some areas in Mindanao, Rhea Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

This will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Davao Region, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.

Moderate to heavy rain showers in those areas could also result in flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country could experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
