MANILA, Dec. 1 -- A new low-pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a medium potential to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, the weather bureau said in a social media post on Monday.
The LPA was last tracked 1,445 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, as per the 5:30 p.m. bulletin.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is expecting the country to experience one to two cyclones this December.
"Currently, the LPA outside PAR has no direct effect on any part of the country," PAGASA forecaster Leanne Loreto said.
The LPA, however, is expected to move closer and possibly make landfall over the Visayas or Caraga area.
