MANILA, Nov. 24 -- The low pressure area east of Mindanao has developed into a tropical depression named Verbena, the weather bureau said in its 5 a.m. bulletin on Monday.

Verbena was last tracked 330 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, moving westward at 30 kilometers per hour (kph), according to the 4 a.m. advisory of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The tropical depression is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
