Manila, March 25 -- A low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone.

"It still has a slim chance of developing into a cyclone, but it will cause rains in Mindanao," Veronica Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tuesday.

As of 3 p.m., the LPA was located 905 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao.

PAGASA expects the LPA to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms across Mindanao as well as Eastern Visayas.

Flash floods and landslides are also possible due to moderate to heavy rains, PAGASA said.
