Manila, Sept. 4 -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday welcomed the appointment of lawyer Giovanni Lopez as the acting secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

In a statement, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said Lopez is the "right man to lead the department" in pushing for necessary reforms that would improve the country's transportation system.

"On behalf of the men and women of the LTO, I warmly congratulate Secretary Lopez for his appointment to lead the DOTr. It is a well-deserved appointment," he said.

He noted that Lopez is no stranger to the LTO after he led the agency briefly in 2022.
