Manila, June 5 -- Senator Loren Legarda on Thursday marked World Environment Day by calling for stronger enforcement of the country's environmental laws and the integration of ecological sustainability into all levels of development planning.

Legarda said the Philippines already has a comprehensive suite of environmental laws, including the Clean Air Act, Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, Climate Change Act, Renewable Energy Act, and Extended Producer Responsibility Act.

"These laws are already in place. What we need is faithful implementation, genuine political will, and the active participation of all stakeholders," she said in a news release.
