Laoag City, Feb. 9 -- The city government suspended classes in both public and private schools at all levels, as well as government work on Monday afternoon in celebration of the annual Pamulinawen Festival grand float parade here.

"The suspension aims to ensure public safety, maintain order, and effectively manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the grand float parade," Laoag City Mayor James Bryan Alcid said in a statement, citing participation by 16 large floats and 10 small floats from various towns and cities in the province.

However, government personnel in peacekeeping, traffic, disaster management, health, and sanitation, including job orders and casuals, are required to continue their duties.
