Manila, Feb. 19 -- A water expansion project in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur is nearly complete, the Provincial Engineer's Office (PEO) said Wednesday.

The project, funded by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, is part of the rehabilitation of areas outside the "Most-Affected Area" from the 2017 siege.

"The Marawi City Water District will be responsible for water distribution," the PEO said.

The project is "substantially completed," although there are minor deficiencies, it added.

Rep. Ziaur-Rahman Adiong of Lanao del Sur's 1st District said 95 percent of the PHP400 million project is complete.

"I am committed to overseeing the city's recovery," he said.
