CALAMBA CITY, Nov. 21 -- Governor Sol Aragones ordered the demolition of 67-year-old buildings at Calo Elementary School on Friday, citing safety risks from the deteriorating structures.

The governor conducted an ocular inspection of the Bay town school, built in 1958, where she observed cramped classrooms and learned about recurring flooding during heavy rains.

"We saw here that the classrooms are very old," Aragones said, stressing the urgency of replacing the hazardous structures.

Provincial Engineer Gil Agarri led technical inspections to assess structural integrity and plan new construction, potentially including a multi-story building.

"We're going to build new school buildings and fix this problem right away," the governor said...
