Manila, June 24 -- Authorities arrested a South Korean national and seized PHP7.1 million worth of illegal drugs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 in Pasay City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported on Tuesday.
In a statement, the PDEA said alias "Han," 39, was set to board a Cebu-bound flight on June 22 when members of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) flagged his backpack during final screening at the Domestic Departure Area.
Authorities discovered a foil-wrapped transparent plastic bag containing around 1,430 grams of suspected Ketamine (a recreational drug) alongside bundles of toiletries, banana chips, and dried mangoes.
