Manila, July 11 -- Malacanang has declared July 15, 2025 (Tuesday), a special non-working holiday in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to commemorate the region's 38th founding anniversary.

The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 939 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on June 17.

"It is just fitting and proper that the people of the Cordillera be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration," the proclamation read.

CAR was formally created through Executive Order No. 220, signed on July 15, 1987, by then-President Corazon Aquino following successful peace talks with the Cordillera Peoples Liberation Army (CPLA), led by former rebel priest Conrado Balweg.
