ILOILO CITY, May 20 -- Traffic enforcers here will be allowed to observe "heatstroke break" as they perform their function amid continued exposure to extreme heat.

Iloilo City Traffic Management Unit (ICTMU) head Uldarico Garbanzos, in a media interview on Monday, said while traffic enforcers are expected to be visible, especially in choke areas during rush hours, they are encouraged to take a break to hydrate.

"They should break to rehydrate because of too much heat. We always remind them to bring water to prevent complications," he said.

From noon until 4 p.m., they are not expected to be always visible in the middle of the streets, but would only be "reactionary" should there be congestion or accidents.
