Manila, Aug. 28 -- The local government unit (LGU) of Paoay, Ilocos Norte on Thursday distributed sacks of fertilizer as a subsidy to all registered farmers in the municipality.

Mayor Shiella Galano led the daylong distribution in the villages of Mumulaan, Nagbacalan, Nanguyudan Pasil, Sungadan, and Suba, among others.

"As we have promised, we are here to deliver direct service by giving you fertilizers, one of the things you need most this cropping season," Galano told the 188 farmer-recipients in Barangay Nagbacalan.

The subsidy aims to help farmers cope with the rising prices of various agricultural inputs.
