Manila, Aug. 7 -- The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) has ramped up its nationwide crackdown on carnapping and traffic violations, resulting in over 15,000 traffic violation tickets issued and 1,500 motorcycles seized in its weeklong operation from July 27 to Aug. 3.

In a statement, HPG Director Brig. Gen. William Segun said the HPG units nationwide accounted for the arrest of seven wanted persons involved in carnapping cases, the recovery of 25 stolen motor vehicles and nine stolen motorcycles, and the impounding of 293 motor vehicles and 1,503 motorcycles.
