Manila, Feb. 7 -- House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Friday said it depends on the senators on when they will start the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.

"It's up to them. We leave it to their sound discretion," he told journalists when asked in an ambush interview if he is urging senators to expedite the impeachment proceedings.

Romualdez declined to answer other questions related to the impeachment complaint.

The Speaker visited his home province Friday to lead the groundbreaking of the PHP750-million Benjamin Romualdez International Convention Center named after his late father who served as Leyte governor from 1967 to 1986.
