Manila, Jan. 27 -- The House of Representatives, under the leadership of Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III, on Tuesday opened committee deliberations on bills seeking to ban political dynasties.
The deliberations by the Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms, chaired by Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, formally launched a push to enforce a constitutional provision that has remained unimplemented since the ratification of the 1987 Constitution.
In his opening remarks, Dy said the proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Bill has long been awaited by the Filipino people and remains without an enabling law nearly four decades after the Constitution was ratified.
