Manila, Oct. 30 -- The Philippine Navy (PN) on Thursday clarified that, contrary to some reports, controversial Senate witness Orly Guteza is not under the custody of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC), one of the two type commands of the naval service.
In a message to the Philippine News Agency, PN spokesperson Capt. Marissa Arlene Martinez said Guteza had effectively retired from the PMC as of June 30, 2020, or five years ago.
"As a retired serviceman, he no longer falls under the administrative authority of the PN. Any engagements or interactions he may have at present are undertaken in his personal capacity," she added.
Aside from the PMC, the other type command of the PN is the Philippine Fleet.
