Manila, July 10 -- Unidentified gunmen shot dead four men on the national highway in Pigcawayan, North Cotabato Friday morning, police said. Maj. Ivan Samoraza, Pigcawayan police chief, said the ambush occurred at about 6:30 a.m. along the Cotabato-Davao highway in Barangay Tubon. "The victims were on board a red Toyota Innova (MAF-2108) parked by the roadside when gunmen armed with long firearms onboard another vehicle arrived and opened fire," Samoraza said quoting witnesses. Responding police found at least 15 empty shells for M-16 and M-14 rifles at the crime scene. "We are yet trying to determine the identities of the attackers," Samoraza said, adding the motive of the attack had yet to be established.
