Manila, June 20 -- The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is supporting efforts to close education gaps in the country's remotest corners, marking its most expansive school outreach since helping the Department of Education on the latter's Adopt-a-School Program.

In a news release Friday, GSIS said it is supporting 30 public schools to date, the latest of which is the San Francisco Elementary School in the upland village of Bagong Nayon of Concepcion town in Misamis Occidental.

The school, categorized by DepEd as a "Last Mile School," serves just 22 students and requires a one-hour drive and a three-hour hike to reach.
