Manila, Jan. 27 -- The government exceeded its employment and poverty-reduction targets in 2025, Malacanang said Tuesday, as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered further reforms in the use of public funds, particularly for flood control and climate resilience projects.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Marcos presided over the 7th Economic and Development Council (EDC) meeting at Malacanang on Monday, where the economic team reported stronger labor market outcomes and sustained poverty reduction.

According to the economic team, the unemployment rate fell sharply from 10.3 percent in 2020 to 4.7 percent in 2025, indicating a steady rise in the number of Filipinos with stable employment.
