Manila, Feb. 17 -- Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Monday urged taxpayers to use available government programs such as the extended estate tax amnesty program to their advantage, a win-win situation both for the taxpayers and the government.

He said the amnesty program, extended under Republic Act 11956 which amended the Tax Amnesty Act, allows heirs, transferees, and beneficiaries to settle estate taxes without penalties or interest until June 14, 2025.

He said the program's expanded coverage now includes estates of individuals who passed away on or before May 31, 2022, extending beyond the previous cut-off of Dec. 31, 2017.
