BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 12 -- Hundreds of families in three localities, including this capital city, were evacuated while sea travels were suspended as heavy rains continued due to a low-pressure area on Thursday.

Data from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office here showed 58 families, comprised of 179 individuals, have been affected by floods. Some evacuated to a daycare center following incessant rains since Wednesday.

Affected residents were those from Barangays Pahanocoy, Sum-ag and Mansilingan, who were given food assistance through their respective barangay councils.
