Manila, July 24 -- Local airlines continue to cancel a number of domestic and international flights due to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Emong (international name Co-May) and Tropical Storm Dante (international name Francisco).

As early as Wednesday night, the Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have announced cancellation of flights scheduled for July 24 and 25.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said 70 flights were canceled on Thursday:
