Manila, Jan. 3 -- Filipinos in Venezuela are advised to stay vigilant and to remain indoors over developments in the security situation there after the United States carried out a large-scale attack and captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

President Donald Trump in a Truth Social post on Saturday confirmed that the US successfully carried out the strike and has taken Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, out of Venezuela.

The Philippine Embassy in Colombia, which has jurisdiction over Venezuela, reminded Filipinos to "identify safe spaces for refuge."
