Manila, Jan. 5 -- The Philippine Embassy in Switzerland on Monday confirmed that a Filipino was injured in the deadly New Year's Eve fire that gutted a ski resort in Crans-Montana, citing information from Swiss authorities.
In a statement, the embassy declined to disclose further details on the victim.
"The Embassy will not be disclosing details at the request of the family. The Embassy has not received information of any other Filipino casualty," it said.
"Our thoughts go out to the injured Filipino, whose recovery we are praying for."
Local media reported that the death toll from the incident has risen to at least 40, all of whom have been identified by police authorities.
