Manila, Feb. 2 -- The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) said the case of Filipino-American activist, Chantal Anicoche, highlights the New People's Army's (NPA) pattern of luring young people into conflict areas with promises of community and solidarity works.

"Anicoche's case highlights a persistent and dangerous pattern: young people, including foreign nationals, being drawn into conflict zones through pathways described as advocacy, immersion, or international solidarity, which in reality intersect with recruitment, radicalization, and direct exposure to armed violence," NTF-ELCAC executive director Undersecretary Ernesto Torres Jr. said in a statement late Sunday.
