Manila, March 21 -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expanded the list of medicines for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) exempted from value-added tax (VAT).

In a public advisory on Friday, the FDA identified the medicines for diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and mental health to inform agencies implementing the tax exemption, such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Customs, and Department of Trade and Industry.

The VAT-exempt medicines include:
