Manila, May 12 -- Filipinos can expect faster election results this year due to major technological upgrades and efforts by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to streamline transmission processes, a key poll watchdog said Monday.
In a press briefing, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) spokesperson Ana Singson credited the speed of results transmittal to technological improvements, including 5G connectivity and the deployment of over 10,000 Starlink terminals across the country.
"Conceptually, the transmission should be faster," she said in mixed English and Filipino.
The PPCRV expected early transmission results could start arriving by 7:30 p.m. Monday.
