Manila, March 20 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday opened the enrollment period for those who will be using the online voting and counting system (OVCS) in the May 12 midterm polls.
Comelec Chairperson George Garcia reminded the over 1.2 million registered overseas voters to start enrolling for the internet voting.
"This marks the first day of enrollment through our website and we can accomplish this in less than two minutes. From today until May 7, let us take the time to get enrolled. Even if you are a registered overseas voter, if you aren't enrolled, you cannot cast your vote," he said in an interview.
Garcia said the enrollment is necessary for the poll body to verify the identity of voters.
