Manila, Dec. 31 -- Prison management in the country has made significant strides in the first three years of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Wednesday.
In a statement, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. reported three major accomplishments that enhanced prison management and improved the welfare of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
From July 2022 to December 2025, Catapang said BuCor released 28,880 PDLs, surpassing the total number of released PDLs during the full terms of past administrations.
