Manila, March 21 -- The Environmental Management Bureau-Northern Mindanao (EMB-10) has partnered with multisectoral groups to strengthen solid waste management and combat marine plastic pollution.
On Friday, the EMB-10 and the Northern Mindanao Regional Ecology Center (NMREC) signed a memorandum of agreement with academic institutions and cause-oriented organizations to address the growing plastic waste crisis.
The agreement aims to unify stakeholders in implementing sustainable waste management solutions.
According to EMB-10, the Philippines generates approximately 2.7 million tons of plastic waste annually, with 20 percent flowing into bodies of water.
